Pain Pill Addiction

Medications like pain relievers or narcotics, tranquilizers, stimulants and sedatives have been prescribed by doctors for long. However, recently there has been a drastic increase in the number of people going in for these medications that too without prescriptions, ultimately ending up getting addicted to it. Today, the abuse of prescription pill medication has become a serious public health concern.

Researchers report that prolonged non-prescribed use of medications like opioids and stimulants can actually lead to abuse and addiction further leading to compulsive drug seeking. Consequently, stimulant abuse repeatedly over a short period of time can lead to hostility or even feeling of paranoia and discomfort in case of certain individuals.

Though most people get addicted by their own free wish, in many others the tendency to develop an addiction seems to be inherent. Family members abusing drugs or alcohol or factors such as anxiety or loneliness can to a large extent be the contributing factors for addictions. The best possible way to save one from getting addicted is to take these medications in just the exact prescribed amounts so that you don't get addicted even after prolonged use.
